Secondhand
smoke is to blame for an additional 1,200 lung cancer and heart
disease deaths in Wisconsin each year. To say nothing of the large
numbers of nonsmokers whose health is compromised from breathing
the smoke around them.
The following
scrapbook contains real stories of people from Wisconsin whose
lives have been affected by secondhand smoke. These are stories
of nonsmokers whose lives have been changed due to exposure to
smoke on the job, in their homes, in restaurants and other public
places. Each story is unique. Please feel free to tell us your
own story.
If you are
from Wisconsin and have a story to share, complete the form below.
Stories are submitted voluntarily and the DHFS cannot independently
verify the validity or accuracy of the stories submitted. DHFS
will collect all submissions and select specific stories for inclusion.
We hope that,
by sharing real stories of Wisconsin residents affected by second
hand smoke, others may come to better understand the terrible
impact that smoking has on all of us.
